What Are Machine Woven Rugs?

Machine woven rugs are made using power looms that have replicable patterns without losing speed. These rugs can be found widely in the following materials:
• Synthetic fibers of polypropylene, nylon, polyester, or acrylic
• Wool or wool blends with jute or latex backings
• Cotton or felt backings in lower pile rugs
• Pre-stitched edges or fused and non-slip pads
While machine-made rugs are generally easier to care for than woven rugs, they do still require specialized cleaning. Grime and dirt can become embedded into these rugs so they are recommended to help restore the rug to its original state.

Why Machine-Made Rugs still Need Professional Cleaning

Even the most durable rugs will deteriorate over time when not properly cared for. Typical problems that machine-made rugs will encounter include:
• Collecting dust, pet hair, and allergens in the pile
• Stains and spills that float and settle into the fibers
• Absorbed odours from pets, moisture, or smoke
• Backer damage from too much wet cleaning or steam cleaning
• Color loss due to harsh chemicals during cleaning
Mo’s and Rug & More are not like your average carpet cleaning company; they understand how to properly clean a machine-made rug by taking into consideration fiber type and backing construction.

Our Machine-Cleaned Cleaning Process

We customize everything we do to the rug’s fiber, construction, and soil conditions.

1. Inspect

This step is to understand the type of backing, fiber type, pile height and density, stains, tracks, and wear of the rug in order to understand the safest method to clean and any risky areas.

2. Dry Dust & Soil Removal

We dry dust with commercial grade dust equipment to get rid of all the dry debris and grit first to protect the fibers, then towel dry to restore the texture before then cleaning.

3. Pretreatment & Spotting

We pretreat any stains, traffic areas, or pet spots with eco-safe, fiber-friendly solutions prior to moisture, very careful not to over wet an area to break glued backing.

4. Low Moisture or Immersion Cleaning

After consideration of the fiber and backing we use:
a. Low moisture cleaning methods for rugs with latex or adhesive backings.
b. Full immersion washing for strong synthetic or wool blends.
c. Controlled rinse-extraction that materially reduces the impact and pressure on the backing and minimizes extraction period, while extracting soil.

5. Odor & Bacteria Treatment

In the event of pet accidents or area rugs with musty smells, we use enzyme-based odor removing products as they eliminate the odor source and not just mask it.

6. Flat Drying & Grooming

Rug drying happens in our temperature-controlled facility. We always groom the pile and brush up the edges. Once we are finished, we return the rug clean, dry, and deodorized.
