Braided Rug Cleaning Process

Each braided rug is assessed accurately, determining the safest method for cleaning based on the material, construction, and condition of the rug.

1. Inspection

We look at the materials (wool, cotton, jute, synthetic), stitch inspection, and condition of the braided rug. Just as important, we review the entire braided rug for damage, stains, and signs of separations or edge frays, even before cleaning begins!

2. Dry Soil Removal

Dry soil removal begins with controlled vacuuming and vibration. Braided rugs are also known to accumulate soil between the braided layers, which if unresolved, is detrimental to the fiber lifespan of the rug.

3. Color-Fastness Testing

For multicolored braided rugs, we dye test for bleeding colors. If bleeding occurs, we can stabilize it so your fine braided rug can be as vibrant as possible prior to the rug being cleaned hair.

4. Low-Moisture Deep Cleaning

We hand-clean the top and innermost layer of the braided rug with a fiber safe pH-balanced detergent. We attempt to not oversaturate so the rug may maintain shape, as well as the integrity of the stitches. If the rug has stains or pet accidents we treat these spots with environmentally-friendly spot removers.

5. Rinsing and Shaping

We rinse with controlled moisture and lay the rug flat on a drying surface. As it dries, we reshape it as required to avoid puckering or curling edges.

6. Final Grooming, Understandably, Trimming and Repairs if necessary

We groom the fibers, trimming loose threads, and completing required minor stitching repairs. When you receive your rug back it will be clean, fresh smelling and ready for your use.
